Choquette/McInnis and Gamble/Hardy Take Top Spots on Eufaula

November 2021 – The close of the 2021 Wiregrass Student Angler Trail ended with 2 Headland teams in first place. It was an action packed weekend for HBT as they traveled to Lake Eufaula for the 4th WSAT tournament. There was a lot on the line for the Angler of the Year competition and a guaranteed spot for the Bassmaster High School National Championship in the summer. Hudson Choquette and Cal McInnis were able to take first place in the Varsity Division and Lawson Gamble and Grey Hardy were able to grab first in the Junior Varsity Division.
Hudson and Cal started the tournament 22 points behind the AOY leader in 3rd place, they knew they had to make a statement to catch up. They stepped up to the challenge and went out and caught a 16 pound bag anchored by a 6.7 pound behemoth. Finding out they won this tournament and the big fish award was a bonus, but they couldn’t rest easy until the scores were tabulated for AOY. In the end they were able to win with an 18 point lead. Following behind them in 4th place was the team of Hayden Buchanan and Barrett Choquette. They had a 12 pound bag from deep fish. Behind them in 12th place were James Quinlivan and Asher Peters.
Lawson and Gamble were able to pull in an impressive 10 pound bag to win the Junior Varsity tournament, as well as big fish with a 3.6 pound toad.

We are so thankful for all the friends and family that showed up to cheer on our anglers at weigh in. We are very appreciative of the trail that WSAT puts on for our children. The Headland Bass Team fishes next on Lake Jordan for the East Alabama High School Bass Angler Trail opener.
