October 2019 – Aaron Cherry and Hudson Choquette were able to hold back a field of 150 competetors to take the title of the Alabama BASS High School Trail on Lake Tuscaloosa. Headland was also blessed with 3 other top 20 teams during the event. This solidified not one but 2, 6 Man team awards. The temperature changed overnight as well as Aaron and Hudsons plan. They scrapped their practice spots for rock walls. They thought the colder weather would fire up the spotted bass bite. That and the help of a 2.7 pound largemouth placed them in good condition going to weigh in. Following behind them were the team of Alexis Grandstaff and James Quinlivan. They were able to finish in 15th place. The duo found fish on points and brushpiles, targeting them with soft plastics. Having 4 teams in the top 20 made is easy to tabulate the 6 Man team awards with Headland taking both 1st and 3rd. Davis and McInnis and Buchanan and Metcalf finshed 17th and 20th. This has all of our teams qualified to fish the State Championship.

On the Junior side, all of our 3 teams managed to catch fish.

The Headland Bass Team competes October 26th next on Lake Martin for the 3rd Wiregrass Student Angler Trail event.
