June 2018 – It was another rainy weekend for the Headland Bass Team for the two day Alabama BASS Nation High School State Championship on beautiful Lake Eufaula. We were lucky enough to have 6 teams earn the right to compete against 200 of the best in the state last weekend.
As the scales closed at the end of day one, two Headland teams were in the lead. Aaron Cherry and Hudson Choquette with 20 pounds and Aiden Sowell and Cameron Beckworth nipping at them with 19. However, none of the other Headland team were out of the running and they all had a chance to come back the 2nd day if the fis cooperatd.
The second day brought more rain and heavy winds. The second day also took its toll on the lake with smaller bags for many teams, so the race was getting tighter. But, at the end of the day Aiden and Camereon were able to secure their bag and nail a 3rd place finish. Hudson Choquette and Aaron Cherry’s schooling fish secured them a 6th place finish and schools also secured Brady Brasinton and Caemon Metcalf’s Top 20 finish.
The other highlight of the day was the Headland Bass Team Wining 2nd Place Team Award of the tournament. We only missed first place by 3 pounds.

We are so thankful for all of our friends and family that came to weigh in. We had great food and fun despite the rain. This marks a wonderful close to the regular 2018-2019 season. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2019-2020 season.

Some lucky members of the HBT can next be seen fishing for the BASS National Championship on Kentucky Lake during the first week of August.
